The Global Chekhov Initiative was born from Marjo-Riikka Makela’s need to cultivate ideas and actions, on how to share artistic resources, build larger network of togetherness, how to offer help & support, and create hope & inspiration, in our current global situation.

Marjo-Riikka’s wish that the Global Chekhov Initiative will continue to grow and develop via it’s participants is blossoming, and a large group of fellow artists and teachers come together every Sunday!

As our physical togetherness, in many places of the world, is suddenly limited almost to none, we have now been pushed to have an opportunity to connect and share inspiration with fellow artists from all around the world, in a much more urgent way than ever before.

We understand that at this time, playing might be the last thing on your mind… and it also is a luxury denied from many, at the moment. Therefore, please come as you are, with your anxiety or sorrow, and with your joy and your playfulness. We have room for it all! Whether you wish to take a vacation of worry, or meet your feelings and honor the sensations in your body with compassion for yourself and for your fellow players: Come recharge your batteries and your energy-field so that you can have more capacity for everything that is going on. If you have this wish, to not deny reality—but to change your experience of it, come join us online!

The possibility to connect with fellow artists who you wouldn’t perhaps otherwise have even ever met, is delightfully inspiring!
